Active Families

Traditionally, Kids On Track has been able to offer day-camps for children all summer long. This summer we have sadly had to suspend the day camp program but we began looking at what we CAN do. So, our Active Families program is EXPANDING! This is a chance for parents to get active and get creative WITH their children, fostering a stronger family relationship through shared experiences. We will be offering four activity slots per week M-Th as well as two Saturdays a month. There's something for everyone!

Activities like container gardening, nature games, bike days, craft days, and creative outside games will all be a part of the summer. We will provide all equipment and supplies. We will align with all the guidelines provided from the province of Alberta including social distancing.

Again, each activity will only be $5 and we have lots of free spots to give away. We will work with what any family can pay!

Businesses Open During Social Distancing

An Edmonton Business Directory set up to help Edmontonians to find businesses that are operating under changing circumstances, meeting customer needs through pick up and/or delivery. The goal of this initiative is to keep businesses and community organizations afloat during this challenging time, and also foster an ever-broadening sense of community support. Community Hall Closed

The Community Hall is closed until further notice, for all public use due to the provincial closure order.

Albertans are prohibited from attending public recreation facilities and private entertainment facilities.
This includes gyms, swimming pools, arenas, science centres, museums, art galleries, libraries, community centres, children’s play centres, casinos, racing entertainment centres and bingo halls. [see https://www.alberta.ca/coronavirus-info-for-albertans.aspx] [updated March 18, 2020]

JASPER GATES REDEVELOPMENT

Council approved RioCan’s DC2 rezoning on February 4, 2020 to permit mixed use buildings with 4 towers ranging in height from 25 to 30 storeys. Our Jasper Place ARP was not amended even though different policies were violated. Most of the public believed RioCan owns the entire Jasper Gates site. We found out after the public hearing that Safeway owns half the site and has no intention of redeveloping or selling to RioCan. Therefore this rezoning will result in hodge podge redevelopment. Most concerning, since this rezoning permits RioCan to construct buildings larger than what is permitted under the current zoning, RioCan is required to provide a certain dollar amount of community amenity green space. Planning placed that green space on Safeway’s property, and if Safeway does not sell to RioCan, there will be no chance of having this built. I believe this rezoning would be invalidated by the Court of Queen’s Bench.
